 The Alley Cat Vacation Rental

The Alley Cat provides a cocoon of warmth and comfort for families and friends to enjoy all that Nelson and environs has to offer.  The Alley Cat is a home base that is soothing in spirit and practical in purpose. Built in 1915, the Alley Cat is a Craftsman design and possesses a unique character with an easy style and innate coziness. The furniture is all brand new to suit your stay with cotton bed linens,  wonderful comfortable  mattresses, fully equipped kitchen. Original Hardwood floors throughout the house provide a homey atmosphere. We decorated the Alley Cat to be a comfortable modern home with all amenities in the centre of Nelson, with the look and feel of an old world cottage tucked away in the seclusion of the woods.


The Alley Cat - what's really behind the name?

Literally, the house has alley access, hence the initial idea to call it The Alley Cat. The more we thought about it, the more we loved the name. An alley cat is a cat looking for a home, it is a wanderer, forever exploring its environment. We wanted our  cottage to provide respite for the wandering world traveler...whether they are escaping for a breather from Vancouver or Calgary, or coming to tour the Kootenays and  Canadian Rockies from as far as Japan, Germany or Chile.

Hi! We moved to Nelson a year and a half ago to open 'Simply Be and B', an organic bed and breakfast situated in a 110 year old former convent. With visitors from all over the world staying at our B&B last summer, we had so much fun that we wanted to provide more like hearted space for couples, families, groups to enjoy their Nelson vacation or corporate stay. We found the perfect place in what was previously called "Inn the Garden   Guesthouse", which had been a vacation rental for the past fifteen years. Now the Alley Cat...we look forward to helping our guests create memorable Nelson vacations!
